The window regulator guides the window along tracks within the door. If these tracks are worn, the window may become difficult to move in some positions.

A worn window track will prevent smooth movement of the windows. The window can move normally on the normal part of the track, but once it reaches a worn part, it may experience greater friction. The friction will slow and stop the window in that position and make it difficult to move farther.
