Oil is overfilled

The oil level of an engine must fall within a specific range. If the level is too low, the engine will not receive enough oil to prevent overheating and engine damage. If the oil level is too high, oil may leak into the combustion chamber. Overfilled oil can also be whipped into a froth by the crankshaft. The oil froth will be difficult to pickup and circulate through the engine.

Exhaust Blows Blue Smoke

If the oil level is too high, oil can seep into the combustion chamber and ignite with the fuel/air mixture. This will produce a blue smoke out of the exhaust.

See burning oil.
