Improperly bled brake system

If the brake system is improperly bled, there will be a loss of brake fluid. This reduction in fluid will diminish the power of the master cylinder to react to the brake pedal. The less fluid, the lower the brake pedal has to be pushed to operate the brakes.

Symptoms

Brake Pedal Easy to Press

Brake fluid creates resistance between the brake pedal and master cylinder. The less fluid, the easier the pedal is to press.

Brake Pedal Can Be Pressed Very Low

If the pedal can be pressed very low before the brakes operate, there is a reduction of brake fluid. As the pressure in the master cylinder increases, it forces the brake fluid through the brake lines. Once the pressure reaches a certain point, the pedal will become harder to push. With less brake fluid, the distance the pedal needs to travel before this point is reached increases.
