Headlight relay is defective

A defective headlight relay can prevent the headlight circuit from being completed or keep the circuit on. A defective relay will interfere with the normal operation of the headlights and the high beams.

Symptoms

Headlights Don't Light Up

If the headlight relay is defective, when the driver activates the headlight switch, the electrical circuit will not be completed. This will prevent the headlights from receiving any electricity. This can occur for both the high beams or low beams.

Headlights Don't Turn Off

If the relay is stuck in the closed position, the circuit will not be broken. The electricity will continue to flow to the bulbs when the switch is turned off.
