Fuel Injector
A fuel injector is a device that delivers the fuel directly into the engine. The fuel is pressurized, and sprayed in a cone shaped pattern to maximize the distribution. An electronic sensing device times the delivery of the fuel.

Types
Direct Fuel Injection
Direct fuel injection is the placement of the fuel injector so that the fuel enters the combustion chamber directly. This method is used in diesel engines as well as older vehicles.
Indirect Fuel Injection
Indirect fuel injection consists of of placing the fuel injector so that the fuel enters the intake manifold prior to entering the combustion chamber.
