Four Stroke Power Cycle

The four stroke power cycle refers to the movements of the piston in an internal combustion engine.

Intake Stroke

The piston draws the fuel/air mixture into the combustion chamber.

Compression Stroke

The piston rises and compresses the fuel/air mixture.

Combustion Stroke

The spark plug ignites the mixture, forcing the piston downward.

Exhaust Stroke

The burnt fuel is expelled from the chamber.
