Symptoms

Door Feels or Sounds Loose

If the door latch is misaligned, the door can sound or feel loose when it is closed. The door will have to make adjustments to combine the two parts of the latch. This will create stress on parts such as the hinge. The stress can bend or weaken the hinge to a point where the door can be easily moved while closed.

Door Will Not Close

A misaligned latch can prevent the door from lining up properly and from closing completely. The misaligned latch can also put stress on the hinge as it forces the door to adjust.
