Defective temperature gauge wires

The temperature gauge receives an electric current from wires. If these wires are defective, the level of current received can be altered and produce an incorrect temperature reading.

Symptoms

Temperature Gauge Fluctuates Randomly

If the temperature gauge is fluctuating randomly, the the wires may be conducting an erratic current. This current will push and pull the pin as it rises and falls.

Temperature Gauge Always Low

If the gauge is always low, there may be no current passing through the wires.

Temperature Gauge Always High

If the gauge is always high, there may be too much current passing through the wires.
