Defective rear defroster coils

The rear defroster coils are the wires that run along the rear window. If they are defective, the electrical current that flows through them may be hindered or stopped all together. This will prevent the defroster from functioning effectively.

Rear Defroster Doesn't Work

If the rear defroster is not removing ice or fog from the window, the defroster coils may be defective. The entire window may not be defrosting, or a single coil may not be working. Since the electrical current flows through the entire defroster, depending on the position of the defect, the coils may receive some of the current or none at all.
