Seatbelt buckle is damaged

A damaged seatbelt buckle may prevent the seatbelt from staying buckled, or prevent it from being buckled in the first place. The buckle has two parts, a solid metal part that is inserted(the latch), and a part that the former is inserted into that has a button or lever for release(the buckle).* The damage of a latch is easy to detect. Simply compare the latch in question to the other latches in the car. A damaged latch would look different. If the latches are all the same, the problem may be with the buckle. If possible, try inserting a different latch into the buckle. If it still won't connect, the problem is the buckle. *not sure of the actual names for the parts.
