Points

Points (also called contact points, breaker points, or ignition points) are two or more metal terminals inside the distributor that touch and separate based on movement of the cam wheel attached to the distributor shaft. The points regulate the duration and intensity of the current delivered to the spark plugs by breaking the current as the touch and separate.
