Float is broken

A broken float will produce inaccurate fuel level readings. The reading will likely be lower than the actual level, as the lever attached to the float is not raised with the fuel level.

Fuel Gauge Always Low

If, after you fill the tank, the gauge does not register a change, the float may be damaged or disconnected from its lever.
