Door hinges or friction glide need lubrication

Door hinges and friction glides, or stays, have moving parts. If these parts lack a certain level of lubrication, they will produce a noise as they rub together. Rust or other corrosion can facilitate this process by altering the clearance between the two parts.

Door Squeaks

If a door is squeaking when it is opened or closed, the parts of the hinge are scraping together. The friction produces a noise, usually a squeak but can also be a rub or grind. The addition of a lubricant may remedy the problem by decreasing the amount of friction between the two parts.
