Timing jumped

The ignition timing is the point at which the spark plug fires in the combustion chamber. If the timing has jumped, meaning it is firing too early or late, the power of the engine will be reduced and stalling may occur.

Engine Stalls

If the timing is off, the fuel/air mixture will ignite at the wrong time. This will transfer an insufficient amount of power to the crankshaft. The slowing rotation of the crankshaft will not be able to keep up its momentum, and it will stop spinning. This is the engine stalling.

Engines rely on a specific ignition timing to produce the optimum power. If the timing is off, the power is reduced.
