Pinched or restricted fuel hoses

Pinched or restricted fuel hoses will prevent the proper level of fuel from reaching the engine. This will result in stalling. Fuel particles that remain unfiltered, from filter damage or defect, and enter the fuel hoses and build a clog.

Symptoms

Engine Stalls

With restricted fuel hoses, the amount of fuel reaching the combustion chamber will be reduced. As the engine runs, the fuel needed to maintain operation will not be delivered. The engine will not be able to sustain motion and will stall.

The stalling may occur right after starting, in which case, the restriction is severe. The same goes for idling. If the engine stalls during acceleration, the air ratio entering the engine will increase, reducing the engine power and causing a stall.

Causes

Defective Fuel Filter

The fuel filter cleans the fuel as it leaves the tank. If it is damaged or defective, parts of it can break off and enter the fuel lines. This can build up over time and clog the lines, reducing fuel delivery.
