Headlights Don't Light Up

The relay is used to connect two points on complete an electrical circuit between the bulbs and the battery. If the relay is stuck open, the circuit will not be completed, and current will not flow to the bulbs.

Headlights Don't Turn Off

A relay that is stuck closed will keep the circuit closed, and allow electricity to freely flow. This will keep the headlights illuminated, even when the switch is off.
