Defective wiper wires

A defect in the wiper system wiring can prevent the proper electrical current from reaching the wiper motors. The wipers may be weaker, not work at all, or the fluid may not be dispensed.

Symptoms

Wipers Don't Work

Like all electrical parts of the vehicle, the wipers need electricity to operate. If the wires are not carrying the proper amount of electricity, the wipers will not function properly. There may be a reduction in the power of the wipers if the defect is small. If the defect is large enough, the wiper park mechanism may be activated and return the wipers to their starting position.

Wipers Do Not Dispense Fluid

A defect in the wiper wiring system may also prevent the dispensing of washer fluid. The nozzles will not receive the power to draw the fluid and spray it onto the windshield.
