Defective wiper park mechanism

The wiper park mechanism is a device that returns the wipers to their starting position when the wipers are turned off. If the mechanism is defective, the wipers may return to the starting position immediately, or fail to do so when the wipers are turned off.

Symptoms

Wipers Start Moving, but Immediately Turn Off

If the wipers begin their movement, but then turn off, the wiper park mechanism may be defective. The mechanism may be receiving the wrong signal, such as an interruption of electrical current, and move the wipers to their starting position.

The problem may also lie in the wiper system wires. The current may being to flow through the system, but the be stopped. This would cause the park mechanism to reset the wipers.
