Defective theft control unit

The theft control unit is the device that monitors certain conditions of the vehicle to ensure only authorized people have access. If this unit is defective, the vehicle's defenses may either be activated, such as an alarm, or not be enabled.

Theft System Warning Light Comes On

The theft system warning light can be a "Security" or "Theft System" light. It is designed to inform the driver of a problem with the theft deterrent system. A defect in the theft control unit can cause this light to be illuminated.
