Defective Idle Air Control Valve

A defective idle air control valve may not open when the engine needs more air to avoid stalling. With a defective IAC valve, the engine may stall under heavier loads.

Engine Stalls While Idling

The IAC valve is used to maintain idle speed. If the valve is faulty, the engine may stall while idling or when a greater load is put on the engine such as air conditioning.
