Defective Horn Switch

The horn switch, or button, is the device that the driver presses to activate the horn. If this is defective, the horn will not operate or may even sound by itself. If the switch gets stuck, the horn may remain on for a while after pressing or may stay on.

Symptoms

Horn Doesn't Work

If the horn does not work, the horn switch may not connect the circuit from the battery to the horn.

Horn Stays on for a While

If the horn stays on, the horn switch may be getting stuck. The circuit completed by the horn switch may remain intact, keeping the horn on.

Horn Sounds by Itself

If the horn sounds by itself, the horn switch may be making contact with the electrical points randomly. This will cause the circuit to be completed and the horn to sound.
