Defective high beam dashboard light circuit

When the high beams are turns on, a dashboard indicator light is illuminated to inform the driver. If there is a defect in the dashboard light circuit, the light may not be illuminated when the high beams are on.

Symptoms

High Beam Dashboard Indicator Never On

If the high beam indicator does not turn on when the high beams are activated, there is likely a defect in the circuit.

High Beam Dashboard Indicator Always On

If the high beam indicator, there may be a short circuit where the electrical current is bypassing the switch and flowing to the bulb, illuminating it.

Causes

Defective Wire

A defective wire in the dashboard light circuit can cause the circuit to remain closed, or prevent a circuit from being completed. If the circuit remains closed, the dashboard indicator will remain on. If the circuit cannot be completed, the light will not receive any electricity.

Burnt Out Bulb

If the bulb for the indicator is burnt out, it will not illuminate.
