Defective Door Lock Sensor

The door lock sensor is a device installed in or near the door latch that sends signals to the security system. If the sensor is defective, the security system can be activated when there is not intrusion.

Symptoms

Theft System Warning Light Comes On

A defective door lock sensor will illuminate the theft system warning light to notify the driver that there is a problem with the security system.

Car Alarm Sounds Randomly

On cars equipped with alarms, a defect in the door lock sensor can send a false signal to the security system, causing it to trigger the alarm.

Door Ajar Light is On When Door is Closed

A defect in the door lock sensor can also trigger the door ajar light, and sound if applicable. The vehicle will register the door as being open even when it is closed.
