Charging system is overcharing

If the charging system is passing too much electric current to the battery, it can overcharge and damage electrical components. The alternator is likely passing too much current to the battery.

Defective Voltage Regulator

If the voltage regulator fails to operate effectively, it may cause the system to overcharge. This is a rare occurrence as most failures in the voltage regulator cause a stoppage of the charging system.
