Blower bearings seized, loosen when warm

A seized bearing in the blower motor will prevent air from being passed into the passenger compartment. If this happens only in cold weather, the bearings may loosen as the engine warms, and return to normal function.

Causes

Cold Weather

Cold weather may seize the bearings by inhibiting the lubrication. As the engine heats up, the lubrication warms, and returns to a functional state. This allows the blower motor to resume operation.
